Controller

Our client, east of Pittsburgh, is looking for a Controller to be in charge of all accounting activities, maintain various general ledgers, and manage a full accounting staff.

Description

  • Ensure a company's annual revenue, expenditures and investments are reported with accuracy and completeness in accordance with GAAP.

  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to general ledger accounts and document business transactions.

  • Resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities.

  • Conduct month end and fiscal year end closings including preparation of financial statements for the partnership and other companies.

  • Manage accounting staff in accordance with the organization’s policies.

  • Manage capital expenditure process.

  • Prepare updated list of new and disposed assets.

  • Conduct asset impairment analysis according to GAAP.

  • Provide cash management and control activities; maintain checking account for the partnership and all other companies.

  • Perform internal reviews and audits necessary to substantiate the accuracy of the accounting system with internal control procedures and recommend improvements.

  • Act as liaison between company and accounting firm ensuring that all compilations, audits and tax information is prepared accurately in accordance with GAAP and in compliance with IRS requirements.

  • Calculate and prepare individual shareholders federal and state tax estimates quarterly.

  • Manage all stock payments including capital stock, Ohio CAT and any other statutory obligations.

  • Gather tax information for businesses and shareholders.

  • Prepares drafts of  year-end tax returns for personal returns and all companies to outside accounting firm.

  • Prepare and participates in various special analysis, “what if” scenarios and ad hoc projects as assigned.\

Requirements

  • A minimum of a bachelor degree in accounting, taxation, economics, business or other related field

  • MBA or CPA preferred

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • High attention to detail

  • Good computer skills, particularly Microsoft excel

  • Experience in a private/ family owned business with trusts preferred
